President’s Report (December 2023)
Dear Delta Upsilon Wisconsin Alumni,
As I reflect on the past year of service as the President of the Delta Upsilon-Wisconsin Chapter, I am filled with pride at our Chapter's accomplishments and the enduring brotherhood we've strengthened. My journey from Chicago to the Wisconsin School of Business, majoring in Finance and Real Estate, has been transformative, and serving as your President has been one of my most rewarding experiences.
Fall 2023 Semester in Review
Rush and New Members: The fall semester saw us welcome 20 new brothers. These young men come from diverse backgrounds, representing cities such as Milwaukee, Chicago, Miami, Kansas City, San Francisco, Manhattan Beach, and New York City. They were initiated on December 1, 2023, marking a significant milestone in their lives and the life of our fraternity.
Leadership in Recruitment: Chris Olazabal ‘25, our VP of Recruitment and a junior from Coral Gables, Florida, led these successful efforts. His dedication and hard work were exemplary, and it's exciting to know he will be expanding his horizons with a study abroad semester in Prague.
Philanthropic Initiatives: Our Chapter's commitment to philanthropy was highlighted by partnering with Gamma Phi Beta for the 0.1K Race down Frances Street and collaborating with local businesses to support the Wounded Warrior Project. Additionally, our involvement in the Greater Bucky Open, under the leadership of Delta Upsilon alum Derek Hildebrandt, was a standout event. Our efforts contributed to the nearly $100,000 raised for the American Family Children’s Hospital. VP of Philanthropy, Anders Stoehr ‘25, a Finance and Real Estate student from Green Bay, Wisconsin, deserves special recognition for his outstanding contributions.
Homecoming and Social Engagements: Orchestrated by Jackson Warner, our International Business student from Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Homecoming event was a triumph. The tailgate party he organized before our 24-13 victory over Rutgers was a testament to our Chapter's spirit and unity.
Acknowledgments to the Executive Board: Our VP of Finance, Henry Antino ‘25 from Boston, and VP of Loss Prevention, Jacob Boecher ‘25 from St. Charles, Illinois, have been instrumental in their roles, contributing immensely to our Chapter’s success. Both are studying economics and plan to study abroad in Rome next semester.
Gratitude to Our Alumni Board: Thank you to Your guidance has been invaluable. Charlie Cox, Jon Callaway, Warren Nesbitt, Eric Flanagan, Rick James, Jeff Stoltman, Chris Prestigiacomo, and Chris Hoffman. Your guidance and advice have been invaluable. And your efforts to maintain our Chapter and the house have been both noticed and appreciated.
Welcoming the New Executive Board: As I prepare for my study abroad in Rome next semester, it's my pleasure to introduce our new President, Jackson Shea ‘26, a sophomore from Manhattan Beach, CA. Alongside him are Jack Altman ‘26 (VP of Loss Prevention), Jack Laubusch ‘26 (VP of Finance), Nico Tribuzio ‘26 (VP of Recruitment), David Rashid ‘26 (VP of Philanthropy), Ben Russell ’27 (VP of Alumni Relations), Max Baker ’26 (VP of Member Education) and Liam Reid ’26 (VP of Academic Excellence).. I am confident in their abilities to lead our Chapter to new heights.
In conclusion, my tenure as President has been deeply fulfilling. The rich history of our Chapter, the bonds formed, and the lessons learned have profoundly impacted me. I leave my position with full confidence in the new leadership and with the utmost pride in our Chapter's legacy and future.
With sincere thanks and best wishes,
Sam Shydlowski ‘25
